How Municipalities can use Crowdfunding to fund community projects and initiatives
Thursday September 17 | 2:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Speaker: Apostolos Sigalas, Executive Director, RaiseHope.org
Thriving places help define a community’s economic vitality. From bike trails, to pocket parks, to public sculpture projects, they contribute to a strong quality of life, help attract and retain talent, and grow stronger local economies.
Crowdfunding & social media have emerged as powerful tools to help raise money for these projects and over the past few years communities in the United States have collaborated with local Government to crowdfund their way to revitalizing public spaces. This seminar will examine the benefits of adopting these programs by examining successful American campaigns while also providing a Case study to inform and inspire Ontarians.
