Apostolos Sigalas

Director of Sales, GreedyGiver.com

Apostolos has been involved in banking and finance for over a decade. Formerly a Senior Business Adviser at CIBC, and the current owner of West Liberty Financial, Apostolos has been involved in the funding and growth of various start-ups, business expansions, and major commercial projects.  Apostolos brings with him a wealth of knowledge in entrepreneurship and business financing for a variety of categories including restaurants, real estate development, retail, and e-commerce.  He believes that Crowdfunding is the next evolutionary step to financing, and has committed his time to speak about the benefits of Crowdfunding and supporting those who wish to launch their own campaigns.

Dan Borowec

Director, Economic Development & Tourism, Northumberland County

Dan's background includes the development of the Eastern Ontario Development Program while general manager of Northumberland CFDC and president of the Ontario Association of CFDC’s, as well as positions in the Community College system namely with Durham as faculty and George Brown as chair of Hospitality and Tourism. Dan is involved with numerous professional organizations and agencies in various capacities, and we're fortunate to have him share his experience with crowdfunding, from his unique perspective. He devotes a significant amount of time to Habitat for Humanity currently in Haiti.

Abel Renton

CEO, Get Bent Records

Abel Renton is not only the CEO at Get Bent Records, but he's also a Professor in Music Business Management program at Durham College. He has direct experience in utilizing crowdfunding campaigns to fund various projects, and often shares his specific knowledge with his students and the community at large.

TEFT Story

We are an event business team, called, TEFT, consisting of students at Durham College's Small Business & Entrepreneurship program, and as our major class project we've created  The Crowdfunding Fund Me Fair & Speaker Showcase. It is also part of the Do it in Durham Entrepreneurship Week initiative, where, on behalf of Durham College as well, we're providing a focus on Crowdfunding, in an educational, fun and informative setting, with industry experts.

Please support us by attending the event and visiting entrepreneurs in our venue marketplace, plus, network, and experience 3 guest speakers who have an expertise in in the exciting world of Crowdfunding! We're honoured and delighted to have the National Crowdfunding Association of Canada co-brand this event, as well, and look forward to a sold out event, that not only educates, but stimulates more interest in people making their dreams come true by using Crowdfunding!
