TORONTO, ON April 8, 2014 – The National Crowdfunding Association of Canada (NCFA Canada) today announced that Daryl Hatton, Founder/CEO of FundRazr, has been appointed to the Association’s Board of Directors.
While in its infancy, the growth and impact of equity crowdfunding is steadily advancing in Canada, the U.S. and many international jurisdictions, and is bound to have a significant impact on how small-to-midsize-businesses (SMEs) raise early rounds of seed and expansion capital resulting in a new pipeline of crowdfunded ventures.
Daryl Hatton is founder and CEO of FundRazr, one of the top 10 brands in the burgeoning global crowdfunding market according to Forbes magazine. In 2013 FundRazr won a Technology Innovation Award as Most Promising Startup by the BC Technology Industry Association and was included in the Profit Magazine Hot 50 as one of the fastest growing startups across all industries in Canada.
In over 30 years of software industry experience, Daryl has founded multiple start-ups and helped bring one, Optio, to a successful NASDAQ IPO in 1999. At Optio he was CTO/SVP of Development and was part of the M&A team. He actively serves as board member or advisor to multiple other start-ups in Canada including TalentClick, MyBestHelper and KeyCafe. He was advisor and board member of Backstage Technologies of Victoria, BC which was sold to Real Networks (RNWK) in 2010. He is also mentor and judge for the New Ventures BC business competition.
In 2013 Daryl was appointed Crowdfunding Ambassador for the National Crowdfunding Association of Canada. He is a founding member of the international Crowdfunding Industry Association CAPS Accreditation Council.
Daryl Hatton, CEO/Founder of FundRazr, said, “I’m excited to become a director and support NCFA in the important work of helping Canada become an innovative, world-class crowdfunding centre. Crowdfunding presents a massive opportunity for businesses and causes of all shapes and sizes to fund their growth in new and innovative ways. Working together we can help create a stable and safe ecosystem which these groups can use to fund their dreams.”
“Daryl is at the forefront of Crowdfunding innovation in North America and brings forth a level of authenticity and commitment to the Association’s leadership team that adds immediate value and perspective. We look forward to working closely with Daryl to establish and grow NCFA Canada’s 5 pillars of a sustainable Crowdfunding industry in Canada including infrastructure, education and research, market integrity, efficiency (productivity) and diversification,” said Craig Asano, Founder and Executive Director of NCFA Canada.
